We've been baking boobs, dressing head to toe in pink and running around the business park in Tutu's. It's been a whole host of fun but actually for a very important reason as we've been seeking to help raise funds for the Prevent Breast Cancer charity.
Based at The Nightingale Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital, Prevent Breast Cancer is the only UK charity funding ground-breaking research aimed at preventing cancer for future generations.
First up a number of colleagues donned pink tutus to take part in a collective fund-raising fun-run and walk, held by companies on our Cheadle Business Park every October, to help fund the vital research they do to prevent cancer and saving lives.
And then next up was our big boob bake sale, where many colleagues brought in the eyebrow-raising sweet treats of all shapes and sizes to sell in the office, with all money raised going to the charity.
We've been supporting the Prevent Breast Cancer charity for the past three years now, raising more than £1,600 in that time. The Bake a Boob cake sale added a further £360 to that total.
People and Culture Manager Louise Potts, who organised the event with workmate Caroline Black, said: “We all know that the research funded by Prevent Breast Cancer could help save the life of a loved one, or indeed ourselves, at some point in the future.
“This year’s fund-raising challenge was certainly a bit different but everybody put a huge amount of time and imagination into baking a fantastic range of ‘boobs’ – they certainly lived up to the phrase Naughty but Nice!”
